One of my latest articles was about what to wear when it is cold or snowy out and you still want to look chic and presentable. It made me think about how we all love sweaters in the winter….and how so many of them are currently on sale. Then I thought to myself……”If I had to narrow myself down to buy just 3 style sweaters this month…what would I choose?” Here goes!!!!!

 

1.Cowl necks…..I remember my mother wearing these all the time in the 1980s….well they are back….in a big way…in every store…I actually love this neckline. It is very feminine, and also very comfortable to wear. Cowl neck sweaters naturally elongate the body by draping the chest area. Cowl necks always draw attention to focus on the upper body so if you are a women who is not comfortable with her stomach area, hips, or thighs…then this is the sweater style for you. 2. Over sized cardigan…..these are like a blanket…..They can be worn as a coat sometimes, but in the winter they work perfect as an extra layer when places do not have the heat up as high as you would like. They also work great when you have to drive longer distances in the car and do not feel like wearing a bulky coat with your seat belt. They are super cozy and they can be dressed up or down quite easily. Old Navy has a great selection of these currently.

 

3. The classic black turtleneck….this is a classic and iconic fashion item. The close-fitting style provides sex appeal, but the high neck provides warmth during the cold, winter months. This timeless item never goes out of style so I suggest investing in one with good, quality material. I bought a great one at Loft a few years back that I still wear all the time. It can be easily accessorized and matches every skirt, pant color, style jeans…etc…..If you do not have one in your closet…it is time to invest in one!!!

 

Lately, my favorite ways to wear a black turtleneck are as follows….

*with flares…

 

*with a fur vest for easy layering…

 

with joggers….for a more casual look….Wearing a fitted turtleneck with joggers is a very flattering way to emphasize a smaller waist and flatter your wider lower half…which is my body type….This look works on everyone from plus sizes to petites…
